As it is the month of goal setting and resolution making I thought it might be helpful to write a little post with tips on how to create your goals and more importantly – how to achieve them.
Every January I love setting out my goals for the year! It feels so fresh and exciting, full of possibilities. Remember, it doesn’t have to be January to set goals or even the beginning of a month, or even a Monday for that matter. Any time you make a definite decision that you are going to go for something is good enough!

How to create your goals
1. Which area of your life does the goal apply to?
First of all you have to decide which area of your life you want to set a goal for –
- Personal life
- Health & Fitness
- Education / Skills
Once you have a handle on this you can then decide what you goal will be
2. What is it that you would like to achieve?
What is you goal / wish. No matter how crazy it might seem.
Next we have to work on making that goal achievable
The reasons people don’t achieve there goals are simple
- They don’t believe in themselves
- They don’t know where to start and get overwhelmed
- They don’t want it enough
So here is how we make that goal achievable
1. Visualise it
Take a moment, close your eyes and visualise how great it will be when you have achieved that goal. Really picture it! Visualise details and everything. You can even create a vision board if you like! There are so many videos and posts that help you to do that, if you were interested
2. Write it down
Write it in your diary / planner. Write it on your phone. Write it on post-it notes and put them around the house. Anywhere and everywhere that you will see it on a daily basis!
3. Break it down
All goals look scary when you look at them as a whole. That’s why it’s important to break them down to achievable bite-size chunks. Divide the goal by the amount time you want to achieve it in and then you will break it down into the bits you have to do in each time slot.
4. Do something everyday
Do something everyday to take you towards your goal. Even if you can only fit in ten mins then use that ten minutes to help you along with achieving your goal.
5. Keep motivated
Watch people who have already achieved the goal you are trying to achieve. Remember it has all been done before so it is doable! Follow these people on social media, watch videos, read blog posts and books! Keep that motivation up! You can do it!
6. Don’t get discouraged by set backs
Setbacks happen. They are a part of life. The important thing is to not let them take you down. Don’t give up. Learn from them and move on! You’ve got this! Time to smash it!
6. Reward yourself and celebrate your successes
Don’t forget to celebrate those milestones! You have worked hard and you deserve to reward yourself. Celebrate and keep going, onto the next win! Any goal can be achievable with hard work, dedication and perseverance. If you really want something you will make it a priority and then nothing can stop you. A lot of the time people give up because they face a setback. Why? If it is important enough – keep going. How good will it feel at the finish line!? Be the success story! I believe in you!
