In the summer we unconsciously seem to change our daily routine a little but do we ever think about making them more eco friendly? Sometimes it can be hard to know where to start. I am here to help. Today I have five little changes that you can make to form more eco friendly summer habits
5 Eco friendly summer habits
1. Go easy on the aircon or fans
In Ireland we don’t have air-conditioning as standard in most homes. So if like me you don’t have it then you won’t have to worry about it. However if you do have it try going a little easier on it this summer. Not only will it save you money but it will help to save the planet too. We have a fan in our home like most homes do in Ireland. Again go easy with it. Do you really need it going full whack all the time? Maybe you could bring it down a bit or leave it off for an extra half an hour or hour a day.
2. Dry your clothes outside
I love my dryer but we try to only use it when necessary. I would still have one in my home for that reason and I can only imagine that it is invaluable in the winter time when you have children. However in the summer time their might be no need for it at all. Again save yourself the money and the planet at the same time and give your dryer a break this summertime.
3. Walking instead of driving
Could you walk to come of the places that you choose to drive? When the weather is nice why not take in some fresh air and some exercise when you have to visit people or run errands. It will save you petrol / gas money and help you get healthier at the same time. Not to mention the added benefits to the planet. Win, win, win.
4. Eco friendly SPF
SPF is important ll year round but people are much more on top of it in the summer time. Why not use an eco friendly SPF that will be much kinder to the planet & protect you and your family at the same time! Also if you are going to be in the ocean it’s nice to make sure you have a reef safe SPF.
5. Have zero waste beach days
Leave nothing behind on the beach but your footprints. If you have a beach day try remember to be zero waste. Bring reusable containers, don’t leave any rubbish behind you, be mindful of both the sea and the wildlife. You can still have amazing beach days just don’t cause any harm while you are there.
